It all started on the Thursday night before easter (the 20th March) when Cath phoned to see how I was etc. She found out that I'd be alone on Easter cus everyone else would be in London or Manchester or Scotland or France, but that I'd be fine cus I'd hide an egg for myself or something.
Later that night, the phone rang...Cath again! Wow-lucky me getting 2 phonecalls in 1 night! She wasn't having any of this 'me being alone on a family day' and wanted to know if I wanted to go to Cork for the weekend. HEC YES!! It was such a cool idea! I'd find my way to Birmingham the next day, catch a lunchtime flight, spend 2 nights with the crazy couple and return to Stonehouse late afternoon on Easter Sunday. Great stuff :)
I'm very happy to say that I am on a serious roll with my reading so far this year and the bus and plane trip helped a lot! Guess I'm going to be reading a couple of books waiting for and being on public transport.
Friday 21st
Cath met me at the airport, Alan was working. We played her Simpson's tv game, made a good, healthy supper and watched some tv. Was a bit wierd having been in Stonehouse earlier that morning and now chilling with Cath and Al in Cork. Beats going to Varsity anyday!
Saturday 22nd
After walking around town for a bit, we went to a place called Captain America's for lunch. There's no point in being boring and consistent, so Alan suggested that we ordered each other's meals. The waitress thought we were a bit nutty saying 'He would like...' and 'She will have a...' I ordered Cath a chilli con corne, Alan ordered me ribs and Cath got Alan a bacon and cheese chicken burger. Everyone turned out really happy. While waiting for our food to arrive, we decided and wrote down on a napkin what we were going to buy (junk wise) as an end of lent celebration feast. Our list consisted of choc chip biscuits, hagen das ice-cream, choc mousse, revels, chips, choc cake, choc yoghurt, easter eggs and flake. It was crazy! There was more on our list, but we decided to refrain and not go over board. Not sure if you guessed, but we had all given up choc for lent.
This is new to me, but apparently you go to church on the Saturday evening and then lent can be broken. So being the sneaky people we are, decided to try find a church who had a service early on in the night...Their normal church was only ahving a service at 9pm!! That's way too long to wait-that would mean only getting home about 10 30pm. So, luckily, we found one with a 6pm service. Much better-this meant at least 3hrs extra chowing time :) The mass was hectically full, but very nice. Short and sweet and even had a moment where the whole congregation lit a candle.
While enjoying our feast, we watched a movie recommended by my good bro, David, called the Prestige which was very sly indeed. I didn't make it through another movie, but I was very satisfied-Sharing a feast with the legendary couple and sleeping in the 'Emma bed' in the 'Emma room' as it is known. (Damn straight)
Sunday 23rd
Easter hunt time :) Seeing as though mom the bunny wasn't there, I hid eggs for Cath and Al and Al hid eggs for me and Cath. Wait a minute...Cath def got the best end of that deal! Pancakes for breakfast hit the spot beautifully!
Quckly popped down to Cath's work to print off my boarding pass and play bubbles. (computer game) I now know what Cath does everyday at work...mmm...working hard my ass!
I hate it when it's time to go! Always sucks after having such a great time! But off I went again-Miss Independant-with my packed lunch of course (Cath makes the best packed lunches!) What was a bit ironic was that I'd be back in Cork in 2 weeks time :) It's great!!!
I couldn't have asked for a better Easter.
